| | The Killers - Mr Brightside | ] | of what i've done, one month after the biggest exam (so far) of my life has ended. it's been quite an eventful month, so i hope i'll have the stamina to put it all down into words. oh and it won't be in chronological order, just chucking out whatever events the come to mind first (although yes there'll still be some arranging involved)
Genting. the trip to genting with the family was really a nice break from all the mad-rush of school/singapore-life. although i'd very much like to have my dad with us on the trip, but it's alright i guess. spent the first day just walking around the shopping center despite the little stores they have. but still, it's quite nice to go out and walk around like that together cos it's really been quite a while.
day two was spent entirely at the theme park which was extremely fun. my mom didnt go on most of the rides but that's okay, could see that she enjoyed herself nonetheless. going on almost all the rides with my brother and sister was good bonding time for the three of us, and it appears my sister is quite gutsy, seeing how she sat on all the rides with us, which includes the free-fall-from-the-top-of-a-tower ride, and all the roller coaster rides which at some point in time would have the people upside down (more that once too). good on her.
day three was just some last minute shopping, if any, and trying out whatever food they have there. after that was the long bus ride back to singapore in the middle of a storm. coming down from genting when it's raining is not fun, considering the fact that genting is mostly in the clouds, i.e the rain clouds. saw a fair share of accidents along the way and it's really quite a wonder how drivers can drive on the unlit expressways. must be seasoned drivers i guess. it's good to be back in singapore, but it kinda also mean it's back to the hot air, work, and less family time (but im sure we can always work something out). on the whole, these three days had been quite long-awaited. although i would really really have liked to go further away (places where you need a plane to reach), but i guess genting would do just fine.
FIRST NCC chalet for the holiday. you'd see why it's "FIRST" later on. as per tradition, we had our chalet again. even though in june we already had one, but because we're all bored guys who have money and lots of time, we'd like to set aside a few days of our extremely free schedule for a chalet. and like all ncc chalet, there was PSP, BBQ, fighting, shouting, and lots of fun. i'd never get tired of all the nonsense we guys go together. even if it's just lying around the room and staring at out PSPs. there'd be some pairs to PSPs wi-fi-cally linked, but besides that, we're not communicating with each other. except occasionally to annouce a level up or to ask for help. but somehow, everyone seems to be in the zone together, and it's really kinda cool. i guess it all boils down to the bonds which we've developed over the four years together.
speaking of the guys, it was really pleasant that almost everyone could come down at some point of the chalet. back in the NCC days there would be pontang-ers who dont come for training, and over time, we managed to get them back and it's really a sense of achievement. that's why it was very nice to see everyone back together just messing around. it was almost like the good ol' days.. oh and we gave alan a break this time. we would normally channel all that youthful angst/mischief on him, but this time we gave it a break, given the recent spate of videos appearing on youtube and stomp. but we did attempt a few photo shots, which turned out far from what we wanted in the turn out (expectedly), but still funn nonetheless. perhaps when i feel like it next time i'd attach the appropriate photos to the sections.
it was really very fun, getting back and meeting the guys again.
Jubilee Church Children's Camp. quite an eye-opener for me, given how it's the first time i'm helping out at (i) a church, (ii) a children's camp. the other camps i've been part of involved "YES SIR!", push-ups, and bunk inspections. however, the children's camp did share a similarity with the other camps i've been part of, which is sweaty sticky kids. but it was very fun, and fulfilling at the same time. was in the same group as sarah (THANKFULLY) and was quite jittery in the morning of the first day, cos of the whole new camp environment and stuff. but i guess i could say i warmed up? and the kids were hard at time, expecially a few, but i guess they're just kids and it's really nice when you mangae to get to them and they eventually want to listen to you. wouldn't mind helping out again for sure. thanks sarah for bringing me and asking me to help out, it was truly a wonderful and heart-warming experience to be working with the kids and the rest of the organisers.
12th Dec. which was smack in the middle of the children's camp. but i was at the camp and this is all possible due to a silver in NAPFA. technically this happened before A's ended, but i got the new date after A's. it was quite an over-the-moon feeling after completing the 2.4, knowing that hey, i've done it this time. although there were still people running, but i guess i couldn't help laughing to myself. afterall i've trained quite hard for this time's test, given how i didnt pass the previous attempt. it's really encouraging to know that if one works hard enough for something, we're sure to get it. although the circumstances varies everytime (we might not know how long we've to work, for example) but i guess somehow, we'll still make it eventually. but it bugs me that i've to pass it only the second time. of course i may sound like as ass when i say "why can't i ace it the first time round?" when i should be grateful i passed it already, but then again, it's not really nice to always have to fall first, then have to learn form mistakes. we all would like to get things right the first time round, but i guess we dont have the luxury of doing so all the time. just got to keep that in mind..
oh and by the way, my new enlistment date would be on the 6th of january.
i'd very much like to add more stuff to this entry, but given it's current length and my current attention span to it, i've decided to leave the next part for some other time. this sorts of almost nearly sums up the more eventful things that happened one month after A's. of course i'll put down anymore that come into mind, but i guess that's all for now. the in-between days we spent bumming around (rather unfortunately), watching heroes on the computer (which i've managed to catch up to, only to realise that the season has ended and the next one's due only in feb next year), watching movies, reading, and going out with the girlfriend. other days not with her would be spent missing her, and doing the stuff mentioned in the previous sentence, not including the last portion.
okay i guess i should leave the rest for next time. thank you if you've managed to read up to here without skipping anything. i've a feeling if i were to read this entry in the future, i might just skip most of the stuff, or the whole thing. so, till next time. |
